Finite Element Modelling on the Mechanical Behaviour of Marine Bonded Composite Hose (MBCH) under Burst and Collapse

Currently, the properties of composites have been harnessed on pipelines in marine offshore industry. In this study, bonded composite hose (MBCH) is presented. It aimed at understanding stress/strain distribution hoses using local design pressure under burst and collapse cases. This study also investigates material modelling, liner wrinkling, helical spring deformation, two MBCH models—with without ovalisation. The ovalized model considered simplified research. A mesh was carried out meshing layers. not operational pressure. finite element adopted to predict deformation mechanical response behaviour MBCH. From could be improve conventional hoses. findings include identification buckled sections stressed zones helix reinforcement. Highly reinforced ends are recommended as they had maximum stress strain values.
